Track Information
Songwriter Burke Ingraffia had a folk ballad that told a story about his grandfather and his Italian-American roots in Louisiana. Cale took a simple verse-chorus song structure and arranged it with mandolin and strings to give the song warmth and depth of character in a way that revealed, instrumentally, the historical character of the ballad. He also added the string interlude that you hear now.
